Three Ways to Show Appreciation to Your Body

As women, it’s natural for us to push ourselves to the max. We go after our goals, fearlessly to either prove ourselves right or to prove to the world that we are just as qualified as the man beside us. In all of this hustle and bustle, when do we take a moment to say “thank you” to our bodies? After all, our physical bodies are the homes of our souls, and there, lives our deepest desires and dreams.

If you’re tired, a little more sluggish than normal, or on edge, it may be your body’s request to slow down. Here are three things you can do to show appreciation to your temple.

Embrace stillness.

When was the last time you sat with yourself, with the intent to just be with yourself? It’s when the home is silent, and the electronics are off—and you tell your thoughts to align with the silence around you.

Carve out time for stillness. It gives your brain a moment of calm, your spirit a moment to arise, and your body a chance to rest. This requires no timeframe! You can do this for 5 minutes or one hour. Whatever works best for you.

Create an in-home pamper experience.

A simple yet grand gesture of appreciation to your body involves creating your own in-home pampering experience! Dedicate an evening (or early morning) to indulge yourself in a bath filled with bubbles, surrounded by candles and accompanying fresh fruit and a good book! Include Epson Salt, which helps calm aching muscles and allow yourself to relax any tension away! In this scenario, I would embrace the silence, which will enhance your ability to stay in the moment.

Create a healthy meal intentionally.

When was the last time you cut vegetables and thought about the process of cutting vegetables? How about the last moment when you stirred something in a pot and noticed the ripples flowing to the sides while listening to the sound of sizzling meat in a pan? Cooking can become an experience if we stay in the moment. Create a healthy meal and be intentional about your entire process! From the planning to the last bite, enjoy every moment of your meal prep to say thank you to YOU!

Within the Find Body Freedom Program, I teach women, like you, how to learn to love (okay, like) the bodies they’re in, and that includes building a healthy relationship with food.
